Have you ever had a day when you thought you should never have got out of bed?
I woke this morning at 6o'clock to the sound of the telephone. One of our neighbours was about to go milking when he found 3 of our cows in his drive. Having hurriedly dressed myself I rushed over only to find that the cows had no intention of returning home just yet. They left his drive and then went the wrong way up the road only to go for a play in the field behind another neighbour. We managed eventually to coax them back to our lane where Grandad joined the chase.
We managed to persuade 2 cows to go the right way but no. 3 was not got going to give in just yet. She frolicked up and down a small strip of field and was only coaxed back after very heavy persuasion and a few choice words. Having got the 3 back into the yard no.3 decided she would carry the chase into the dung heap. At this point the farmer appeared and waded in after her right up to the top of his wellies. Afraid that the madam would turn back again I stood on the wall of the ramp which led up to the dung heap - the wall only being about a foot high.
Having safely returned her to the milking yard - the chase over I stepped off the wall only to find my legs travelling at 90mph trying to stand up as I seemed to have found a slippery spot and then it happened. My backside landed straight in a liquid pool of you know what - not a pleasant experience at 6 in the morning - Please excuse me for the lack of a photo! |

Harvesting has begun!
It's all systems go at the moment with silaging now begun. So when your cursing the farmer driving slowly with a trailer load of wilted grass down Chedzoy Lane it may be the Dennings at Temple Farm.
We're praying it wont rain and there'll be none of the usual break downs so that we can get finished quickly.
